Giving Tuesday’s Hunger Project
#GivingTuesday was an annual movement started in 2012 before becoming an independent organization in 2020, being hosted on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and serving as a nonprofit that encourages people to be generous and give back to their community in a multitude of ways. At RIT, students celebrate this holiday by partnering with US Hunger to prepare thousands of lentils to give back to the Rochester community both during the first week of freshman orientation and around the week of GivingTuesday’s official date. Holiday Card Decorating
When the holiday season approaches at the end of the first semester, there will be plenty of opportunities for House of the Arts members to participate in the creation of holiday cards or similar crafts to be donated. Whether it be for the recipient in a nursing home to decorate their living space or for people in a homeless shelter to have warm blankets and hats, artistic talents will be used to better the Rochester community just in time for the holidays!
